How is it only WED??? Good Lord help me!
I want *IDEAS* from my blog readers. Feb is African AMerican month. I have to do some stuff in the classroom honoring AAmericans. I want my kids to research singers/songwriters...Louis Armstrong to Beyonce....How can I incorporate their research in a display besides a time line??? BE creative and send me your thoughts. They kids will be singing songs....Aretha, Commodores, Whitney, Otis Redding, Fats Domino, Supremes, etc... I was thinking of throwing in their family history....maybe tracing their hands and a collage ---HAnds of Freedom--??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? THINK AND SHARE PLUEZZZZSSSEEEE

The Way you Sleep
After two Beers

After three glasses of Wine

After four Kamikazes

After two bottles of Wine (shared of course)

After a few Margaritas....

Note how the head must be restrained to prevent it from exploding

and, finally, for the Serious Drinker...
After 2 bottles Jack Daniels ....

Instead of a display, could they make music videos with the camcorder from the library? Lisa would lend you one!

on a poster board/project board:

Have the students pick out a special black person(teacher approved)
have the students research this person to find out about his or her life. Include information about their childhood, family life, home, education, and career.

There should be at least five detailed paragraphs. They can place these paragraphs on the board.

Drawings and pictures are also needed to illustrate their person.

have your students create 1 trivia question on a 3x5 card or piece of paper. Attach the card to the board so that a flap is created. The question should be displayed, the flap lifted and the answer revealed.

Have the student give a short presentation along with music, a special food, or something extra that all the students can be a part of that is connected directly to their person they are presenting on.

not exactly origonal but it sounds like fun.

if you do not like the poster board idea, maybe have it presented some other way?

I loved the puppy pics :)

Hi Rebecca. I think a good topic would be business people, men and woman. There have been many great success. Maybe inventors, scientists as well.

Love the pictures; no frame of reference though since I don't drink.

i love kamikazes or however you spell 'em.

and maybe some type of project where they write letters and see how many famous African American autographs they can get? including - local "heroes" - cops, firemen, folks like that?

I SOOOOOO wish i wasn't sick and disoriented right now!! I am THE ideas woman![And i did study to be an art teacher so visual is my "thang" lol] How long do we have to come up with ideas? Can you wait till i get over my tonsilitus?
All i can think of right now is a circle of hand shapes overlapping, in different shades of brown.
And maybe a timeline history outlining the process of change, with photos of each milestone etc.
And maybe do the hands too with the time line, and make the hands over lap more and more closer to the end to show togetherness.

BTW if this is African/American month, can everyone go around to the KKK lawns and burn their tacky garden ornaments? lol
No wait, shouldn't we do that all year? snicker snicker

Provide them with the tools they need to learn is interaction, mainly biological, with other

havoc may be caused with the existing ecological
