oooooohh! Touchy subject. I expect everyone has their own views on this and I'm a bit nervous to express mine but since you asked...

I don't agree with them but of course don't judge anyone who does.

Ditto. Don't like the idea, but wouldn't judge someone if they felt otherwise. For me, it means you're not confident it's forever, but again, maybe someone has a good reason for wanting one.

I personaly think that getting a pre-nup drawn up is just like saying, "I plan on divorcing you one day."
What happened to the good old days when we courted for 2-3 years and REALLY got to know each other?
When we did get married, we shared everything we had and worked for?
Where is the love in a marriege now days? The trust?

I wouldn't marry a man who asked for one. I don't think i couldn't even be attracted to the type of man who insists on using them.

John owned his own home, nice car, great job etc when we met. And i basicaly had nothing.
But when he asked me to marry him, he got something no-one else could ever have again - Me, and what's better than that! lol

Oh darling you know who this is...T from Florida. I found your blog again after many moons and saw this post. I can't believe you didn't ask me this when we were on the phone! GET A PRE NUP!
There is nothing wrong with them. Yes, marriage is about love but you need to realize that you are entering in to a partnership that will affect your financial life as well as your personal life. It does not mean you are planning on divorcing and it does not measure how much faith you have in the marriage. It has nothing to do with whether or not you love him or how much. You both need to protect your assets. You can believe in fairy tales all you want girls, but if Cinderella's fairy godmother would have had a law degree, she would have pre nupped that glass slipper.
